Yvon Chabrowski

Yvon Chabrowski, born in East Berlin, lives and works in Leipzig and Berlin. Drawing on her background in photography, the visual artist explores media image formulas, which she lifts out of their original context, thereby both alienating and rendering them tangible. Her performative moving-image sculptures sharpen our awareness of iconographies, production mechanisms and the autonomous life of ubiquitous media images.

In her artistic practice, Chabrowski works with performative strategies to investigate body images and digital, body-image-generating technologies, including AI.

Chabrowski creates performative spaces of negotiation in which movement patterns inscribed into bodies, social roles, and possible forms of relation are questioned and set in motion.

Yvon Chabrowski has received numerous awards, including the Marianne Brandt Prize. Her works have been exhibited, among others, at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Weserburg Museum of Modern Art in Bremen, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, nGBK, n.b.k. as well as in the context of the Odessa and Moscow Biennials.
